Adock and White draw Clark and Kellogg again in Switzerland

THE LUCK of the draw was out again for England players going into the Wilson Swiss Open in Basel this week.Teenage prospects Chris Adcock and Gabby White were the unluckiest of all, drawing fourth seeds and European champions Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg in the first round six days after facing them in the Yonex All England second round. It was just as tough for David Lindley and Suzanne Rayappan, who were drawn against top seeds and double world champions Nova Widianto and Liliyana Natsir in the first round.Sixth seeds Robert Blair and Scotland’s Imogen Bankier start against Taipei’s Hsieh Yu Hsin and Chien Yu Chin.In the men’s doubles Nathan Robertson has recovered from the virus which kept him out of the All England and he and Clark, the eighth seeds, start against Wouter Claes and Frederic Mawet of Belgium.Richard Eidestedt and Andrew Ellis are also in the main draw and face Dutch pair Ruud Bosch and Koen Ridder while Lindley and Chris Langridge face seventh seeded Poles Robert Mateusiak and Michael Logosz.Adcock and Blair begin their bid against Germany’s Michael Fuchs and Ingo Kindervater.Jenny Wallwork sits out the mixed doubles but she and White will look to build on their Yonex All England quarter-final experience when they start out against Poland’s Malgorzata Kurdelska and Agnieszka Wojtkowska in the opening round of the women’s doubles, where they are England’s only pair.Andrew Smith is England’s only player in the men’s singles and he begins against Petr Koukal of the Czech Republic. In the women’s singles Jersey’s three-times National champion Elizabeth Cann awaits a qualifier in the opening round while Scotland’s Susan Hughes meets former European champion Yao Jie.To follow the results, starting with today’s qualifying rounds check out www.tournamentsoftware.com
